Controlled and protected! Austria finally introduces the exclusive certificate of origin – and Wendelin’s Zweigelt Klassik will become Neusiedlersee DAC Zweigelt
Dear Wine lover,
something you already know from other wine producing areas has now become reality in Austria as well: the protection of a certificate of origin for wines that are typical for a particular growing area. You are already familiar with terms such as DOC/DOCG, AOC/AC and DOC/DO from Italy, France and Spain and now along with others in Austria there is the new protected and strictly controlled term “Neusiedlersee DAC”. This certificate of origin does not just apply to the growing area but also to a taste profile that is typical of the area.
This makes it easier for us as winegrowers to draw attention to the particular characteristics of the wines from our very special environment. As a wine lover you have the stronger guarantee that you are drinking a pure Zweigelt that is grown exclusively in the region. The exclusive certificate of origin “Neusiedlersee DAC” guarantees an easy-drinking, fruity, aromatic, typical Zweigelt that according to the regulations has either been matured in wooden casks or steel tanks.
We are delighted to be part of this initiative to promote the Austrian wine culture. It is especially our wine friends abroad who will benefit from being able to purchased highest quality Austrian wines on the basis of a certificate of origin. This will help promote our export success.
This improvement results in you still being able to get the Wendelin Zweigelt Klassik in the tried and trusted quality but under the new title of Neusiedlersee DAC. Still at the same price. Nothing will change – except the label.
If you have any questions regarding this improvement or to any of our other wines or aspects of the business we are as usual, ready and waiting to answer them.
